Ms. Anne-Marie Kroon Director Finance & Control Vopak LNG
Ms. Anne-Marie Kroon is serving as Director Finance & Control for Vopak LNG as of February 1, 2020, heading the global investments in LNG Infrastructure. Previously, she was active in the Global Tax department for almost 20 years and since July 1, 2009 as Global Director, responsible for the global tax position of Royal Vopak. Prior to that she worked as internal tax adviser for Arthur Andersen. She holds a master’s degree in Economics from the Erasmus University Rotterdam. She also is involved in Vopak’s Pension Fund, first as Board Member and currently as Member of the governance committee.
Jarmo Stoopman General Manager LNG
Mr. Jarmo Stoopman is currently serving as the General Manager of Vopak LNG. Previous roles included managing companies in the Netherlands and Sweden and overseeing the Middle East region for Vopak. He has previously worked for Europe Container Terminals. He retired as a Captain from the Royal Dutch Navy and holds a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Science.
Vaqar Zakaria Director
Mr. Vaqar Zakaria has over 40 years’ experience in energy and environmental management in Pakistan and in the region. His professional focus has been on business policy and strategy evaluation, planning of energy production and distribution systems, energy pricing, demand forecasting, and environmental assessment of energy projects. With private sector firms, he has been extensively involved in power and oil and gas infrastructure projects, including conceptual planning, engineering, and project management. He has assisted the Planning Commission, energy ministries, state owned utilities, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the private sector in the development of energy infrastructure, policies to promote investment in the energy sector, and in formulating short and long-term energy plans. He played a key role in setting up Hagler Bailly Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. in 1990, where he continues to oversee all organizational matters. He has also been instrumental in establishing the Himalayan Wildlife Foundation, an NGO active in setting up national parks and assisting the communities and government in management of the protected areas. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mr. Zakaria is also serving as a Director on the Boards of Engro Powergen Qadirpur Ltd. and Hagler Bailly Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd.
Khawaja Bilal Hussain Director
Mr. Khawaja Bilal Hussain is the SVP Strategy, Business Development & Sustainability at Engro Corporation Ltd. Since he came onboard at the end of 2016, Khawaja Bilal has been an instrumental contributor to key strategic initiatives for the Group, including the technical and commercial assessment of Engro Polymer & Chemicals, pre-feasibility of project Alpha, the sale of shares in Engro Elengy Terminal (EETPL) to Royal Vopak LNG Holding B.V., and Engro Enfrashare launch, for which he also served as the CEO. Most recently, Mr. Hussain served as the Head of CEO’s Office at Engro Corporation Ltd. His previous affiliations include prominent organizations like K-Electric Ltd., the AES Corporation, and British American Tobacco.
Currently, Khawaja Bilal serves as a Director on the Boards of Engro Vopak Terminal Ltd., Engro Powergen Thar (Pvt.) Ltd., Engro Elengy Terminals Limited, and Engro Eximp Agri Products.
Mazhar A. Hasnani Director
Mazhar Hasnani is the Chief Financial Officer of Engro Corporation Limited. He has been with Engro for over 12 years and has worked in various finance, business development and commercial roles across various Engro companies. Most recently, he was Vice President – Marketing at Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited and, prior to that, he was Vice President – Corporate Strategy at Engro Corporation Limited.
Among his most notable successes at Engro are the raising of capital for the Group from the sale of majority stake in Engro Foods, private placements of Engro Fertilizers’ shareholding, and developing the roadmap for turnaround of Engro’s rice business.
Mazhar serves on the boards of Engro Fertilizers Limited, Engro Energy Limited, Elengy Terminal Pakistan Limited and Engro Enfrashare (Pvt.) Limited.
Prior to joining the Engro Group, Mazhar spent over a decade in various consulting and advisory roles with Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Nortel Networks in USA & Canada.
Mazhar holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from Luther College and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA – Colorado).
Mr. Ismail Mahmud Director & CEO
Mr. Ismail Mahmud has been with Vopak for 18 years. Since 2011, he has been working as Director for Vopak chemicals business at its headquarters in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and is currently responsible for sales, marketing and commercial activities for all chemical-related storage activities at Vopak. His experience in logistics and tank storage services spans over multiple regions with specific focus on Industrial Terminaling, and he leads one of Vopak’s core strategies in this service market segment. He also serves as a Board Member of Chemtank – Jubail Chemicals Storage & Services Co Ltd. and Sabtank Terminal Services Company and is a member of the Advisory Board Supply Chain Program Committee of the European Petrochemical Association.
Prior to this role, Mr. Mahmud was located in Singapore for 10 years, where he held the positions of Commercial Director for Vopak Asia and Managing Director for Singapore. Prior to joining Vopak, he worked for 3 years as CFO and Commercial Manager of Engro Vopak Terminal Ltd. and for 8 years with Engro Corporation Ltd. (previously Engro Chemical Pakistan Ltd.).
Mr. Mahmud holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University, USA and also an MBA in Finance from St Josephs University, USA.
Mr. Ahsan Zafar Syed Chairperson
Ahsan Zafar Syed is the CEO of Engro Energy Limited – one of the leading energy companies in Pakistan and a subsidiary of Engro Corporation. As the CEO he looks after various entities which include Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited; Engro Powergen Thar Limited; Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company; Engro Energy Services Limited and Siddiqsons Energy Limited.
Ahsan is a graduate of NED where he studied Mechanical Engineering and then pursued his post-graduate degree in USA. As a proud alumnus of NED, Ahsan has close to three decades of managing and leading multi-billion dollar, mega-scale projects such as the fertilizer expansion project of Engro Fertilizers, setting up of Pakistan’s largest rice processing facility in Muridke and most recently establishing the CPEC-endorsed multi-billion dollar Thar power and mining projects – which have successfully unearthed Pakistan’s large coal reserves in Thar and produced electricity through Pakistan’s own fuel source. He joined the EPQL Board in 2019.
